Tensile Strength and Tensile Modulus

The tensile modulus and tensile strength relate to the strength of the material, which allows us to create stiffer rods with less weight. On our Cairnton will use a higher modulus material to achieve the stiffness with less weight. Resin type is critical to performance as it impacts the ease with which blanks are bruised. And bruising will cause a weak place in the blank which may eventually fail. Failure usually occurs under compression.
