Frequently Asked Questions

First Step Of Production

Now that we have our material selected, pattern cut and mandrel selected, let's look at production.

Our pattern will tell us at what point to put the cut pattern on the mandrel. It is tacked on the mandrel. Tacking is a term used to indicate that we attach the pattern to the mandrel. The tool used to do this may be a small iron; or an adhesive may be applied to the mandrel so we can apply the pattern without heat. The picture on the right is the small iron. It melts the resin in the graphite and that holds it to the mandrel.
