Frequently Asked Questions

Final Steps

Some manufacturers will convert the blank to a rod at this point in time. Others will sand the blank and apply a color. After a blank is sanded, it will be cleaned before coating.

There are several methods manufactures use to coat blanks. The most common is some form of epoxy coating. It can either be applied by a squeegee process or put in a tube in which the blank is dipped. The epoxy may also need heat to cure it or it may cure by air drying, depending on the type of finish used.

After coating, the part goes to Quality Control for inspection. Once through quality control, it goes to ferruling where the part is cut to length.

After ferruling a plug (for hoop strength) is put in the multi part parts. If you rod is missing a plug put a replacement one in it.
